Inhumanity Faced By Innocence

(This is a true story of a little boy whom I saw in the bridge while going to Kaleena University, Bandra East.)

Lying down with eyes wide open,
wrapped in a thin cloth of cotton,
kept in a place so very rotten,
on the nook of the bridge with thousands of people passing by…

Lying down in great agony,
in a pitiful situation which took the attention of many,
with both arms and legs amputated brutally,
was forced to earn a penny,
barely 2 yrs old, was he the victim of a heinous felony.

Lying down with an innocent smile flashing across his face,
unaware of his future and the difficulties he’ll have to face,
was left behind in the world’s race,
with no one nearby to give him any solace,
hoping for some kind of God’s grace,
that’ll transform him into a normal child some day,
with both arms and legs with which he may dare to play.

Lying down helplessly in pain,
every now and then, in the cold rain,
hearing the loud horn of the train,
that was making his tiny, sensitive ears insane.
Most of the people from the noisy crowd, aroused by sympathy after seeing his plight,
generous enough to donate a small fraction of their income in his tiny bowl.
Least interested was he to beg,
But that is what was used for him to be fed.

Lying down with a ray of hope,
watching kids of his age being caressed by their parents,
some giggling, some crying and in both cases being taken care of by their parents made them feel proud.
Deep within he had the desire to be caressed by his parents,
everyday he wished the same in his orison.

Lying down constrained to beg,
little did he know the reason for his existence,
living in wretched poverty, he was brought to this world by his parents, just to fill their scrip,
making his destiny to flip,
each day he was becoming more stiff.
He was looked upon by his parents from a far corner,
they looked happy as their wallets are becoming heavier,
not at all ashamed of their behavior.

Lying down unaware of the huge world,
at such a tender age left alone handicapped to fight the world.
For him, life is agonizing, showing all its crudity and barbarity towards him.

Still lying down, waiting for some conjuration to occur,
despite his parents’ atrocity, was waiting for their love to shower.
Not much did he expect from them,
just a support that could make him mentally stronger.
He also like other kids wanted to giggle and cry with his parents’ around for his care.
He was waiting…still waiting…

Such is the story of a little boy who gained the benison of all.
